With more than 25 years of tax experience, Joanne’s expertise covers a broad range of Malaysian taxation matters, including corporate tax advisory and compliance engagements. In addition, she manages and oversees a wide spectrum of individual clients-local, inbound and outbound employees-providing tax compliance and advisory services, including resolution of expatriates’ tax and payroll issues as well as matters relating to employers’ statutory obligations.
Joanne is currently leading the SST division of Moore Advent and has assisted numerous clients across various industries with SST implementation, advisory and compliance matters. Prior to the re-introduction of the SST regime in Malaysia in 2018, she was extensively involved in GST compliance and advisory projects and was an approved GST Agent under Section 170 of the GST Act 2014.
With the mandatory implementation of the e-invoicing regime in Malaysia in phases, Joanne has assisted many clients navigating the relevant timelines, integrating their systems with that of the Inland Revenue Board and enhancing internal work protocols to ensure compliance with the e-invoicing requirements across various business sizes.
Stepping outside her daily routine work, Joanne has contributed to the Annual Budget Commentary and Tax Information for 20 years, an annual publication jointly published by reputable professional bodies in Malaysia where she served as an editorial member. She is now one of the Co-Opted Members of the Technical Committee of Indirect Taxation [“TC-IT”] of CTIM, a position that she has assumed since 2016, aiming at providing inputs on indirect tax policies and technical issues to the Government.
