Update on Deferment of Payment of Tax Instalments for the Period from 1st April 2021 to 31st December 2021 for Tourism, Cinema and Spa Industries

The Inland Revenue Board ["IRB"] has, on 28th June 2021, updated the Frequently Asked Questions ["FAQ"] - Deferment of Payment of Estimated Tax Payable (CP204) and Instalment Scheme (CP500) from 1st April 2021 to 31st December 2021 under the PEMERKASA Stimulus Package which is available to taxpayers with eligible business codes for the tourism, cinema and spa industries.

Salient points of the updated FAQ are as summarised below:-

i. Companies, Co-operative Societies, Limited Liability Partnerships and Trust Bodies
 
Taxpayers with business codes other than those stated in item 3 of the FAQ whose business is affected can submit an appeal to the IRB for the deferment of CP204 payment for April 2021 to December 2021.
ii. Individuals Who Carry on Business
 
Taxpayers with business codes other than those stated in item 3 of the FAQ whose business is affected can submit an appeal to the IRB for the deferment of CP500 payment for May 2021, July 2021, September 2021 and November 2021.

The application must be supported by the relevant documents and will be considered based on the merits of the case.
