Updates on Special Prihatin Grant for Micro SME

The Inland Revenue Board ["IRB"] has uploaded the Frequently Asked Questions ["FAQ"] on Special Prihatin Grant under the "Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin SME)" (in Bahasa Malaysia) to provide guidance on the eligibility and application for the special grant.

Some of the pertinent points clarified in the FAQ are as summarised below:-

1. Special Prihatin Grant is a one-off financial assistance of RM3,000 provided to eligible micro Small and Medium Enterprises.
2. Persons eligible to apply for the Special Prihatin Grant:-
 
a. Must be a Malaysian citizen;
b. Must be carrying out a Micro Enterprise with:-
 
Annual sales or turnover of less than RM300,000; and
Less than 5 employees (excluding the owner);
c. Must have been registered with the IRB or local authorities or Companies Commission of Malaysia on or before 31st December 2019; and
d. Still active in business operation at the time of application.
3. The applicant's data will be cross-checked by an agency appointed by the Ministry of Finance.
4. Applications for the Special Prihatin Grant can be made via the online portal (https://gkp.hasil.gov.my) from 1st May 2020 to 15th May 2020. Applicants may check the result of the application starting from the first week of June 2020.
